CODA's Women-only Workspace
In 2019, CODA Technology Solutions launched a pioneering CSR initiative by establishing a women-only workspace in Kayalpattinam, Tuticorin district. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields, particularly in rural areas where cultural barriers often limit opportunities for women.
A Vision for Change
"The idea of creating a women-only workspace had been on our minds long before it became a reality. In industries like ours—core, technical fields—the representation of women is disproportionately low. We saw that, especially in rural areas of India, cultural norms still restrict women from pursuing careers in STEM. For many, family obligations and societal expectations create barriers that prevent them from stepping into these fields. Our goal at CODA was to challenge and ultimately change that narrative. We believe women deserve more than just a seat at the table—they deserve a space where they can thrive. That’s why we established a women-only workspace in Kayalpattinam. This space allows women to focus on their careers without worrying about safety, household responsibilities, or discrimination. We wanted to create an environment where productivity, growth, and opportunity take precedence over the limitations traditionally imposed on them."
Short Commutes, Big Impact
Our women-only workspace in Kayalpattinam significantly reduces commute times, with many employees living just a short walk away or in neighboring areas. This local setup not only saves time but also enhances work-life balance, allowing our team to focus on what truly matters—creating value and driving success.
Freedom and Financial Security
Many women in Kayalpattinam were financially dependent on male family members, a longstanding tradition in the area. By offering employment opportunities in STEM fields, we empower women to achieve financial independence and break free from traditional constraints. CODA is dedicated to building confidence and providing the means for women to thrive both financially and socially.

Women like me from rural areas face the disadvantage of having to leave their hometowns for the city to find a decent job. That was the key reason I hesitated to pursue my career. I thought my career was over and had lost hope until CODA came to my rescue.” She beams with a proud smile and says, “The flexibility at CODA makes me realize how fortunate I am to be able to manage my family and build a career at the same time. "We wanted to support women who couldn’t start working after their studies due to family restrictions, as well as those who took long breaks because of marriage, pregnancy, or starting a family. Our dream wouldn’t have come true without the first batch of nine women who joined CODA Kayalpattinam. Their dedication and support were crucial in keeping the office running. Like any new idea, CODA faced its share of challenges and struggles. Many people discouraged us, claiming that this would fail because women from Kayalpattinam don’t typically work in IT and related fields. Despite this, we persevered, and I assure you that, even to this day, we don’t regret it."
