About
Our client is a leading organization in the Middle East, responsible for producing and distributing desalinated water. With facilities spread across the nation, the client’s RO Plant Phase 3 is a key site with a production capacity of 240,000 cubic meters of water per day. The plant features an array of sophisticated systems and equipment, managed by renowned EPC contractors.
Problem Statement
The client’s RO Plant required the implementation of a comprehensive ERP/CMMS system (InforEAM) to manage and maintain its 25,000 assets effectively. The primary challenge was to develop a structured and standardized Asset Registry along with its Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities, ensuring seamless integration into the InforEAM system.
Scope
CODA Technology Solutions was engaged to:
- Collect detailed information for each asset.
- Develop a structured Asset Registry and Asset Catalogue.
- Enhance PM activities within the CMMS system.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy for the efficient operation of the InforEAM system.
Solution Provided
Our team executed a meticulous plan to address the client’s needs:
- Physically verified equipment and assets, collecting nameplate details directly from the plant.
- Utilized P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to locate assets within specific plant sections, forming a comprehensive Asset Registry.
- Established Functional Locations (IL01, IL02 & IL03) to organize and manage assets systematically.
- Referred to General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Cross Sectional Drawings, Purchase Orders, and Equipment Catalogues provided by manufacturers to gather detailed equipment specifications.
- Compiled detailed Asset Attributes (IE01, IE02 & IE03) based on the gathered information.
- Analyzed operational processes to assign criticality indicators (A, B, C) for each asset, prioritizing based on impact and operational importance.
- Created and linked Bills of Material (BOM) for assets through Spare Parts Interchangeability Record (SPIR) (IB01, IB02 & IB03).
- Developed a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Plan and Catalogue Profile to ensure ongoing asset reliability and performance.
Outcome
The implementation of our solution resulted in a highly organized and efficient Asset Registry and Preventive Maintenance framework. This enabled the client to manage their assets effectively and maintain optimal operational performance.
Benefits
- By eliminating inefficiencies and ensuring proper asset management, we significantly reduced maintenance and operational costs. The accurate identification and elimination of duplicate items alone resulted in considerable cost reductions.
- Achieved a standardized and accurate asset database, improving data reliability and accessibility. This led to more informed decision-making and reduced administrative overhead.
- Streamlined inventory processes and minimized unnecessary stock levels, which translated into significant cost savings and better budget management.
- Proactive maintenance activities reduced downtime and enhanced asset longevity, ultimately lowering repair costs and extending the lifecycle of critical equipment.
- Easy access to data from different locations improved overall operational efficiency, allowing for quicker response times and better resource allocation.
- Clear visibility into asset management and maintenance costs facilitated better budgetary planning and resource allocation, contributing to more efficient financial management.
- Ensured consistent and reliable data management practices, supporting long-term operational success and compliance with industry standards.
By implementing this comprehensive solution, the client realized substantial cost savings and operational improvements, setting a benchmark for asset management and maintenance within the industry.
