FTPS

FTPS (FTP over SSL) is a secure version of the File Transfer Protocol (FTP), a standard protocol used for transferring files over the internet. FTPS provides an encrypted connection between the client and the server, ensuring that the data being transmitted is protected from eavesdropping and tampering.

FTPS works by using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) or TLS (Transport Layer Security) to encrypt the data being transmitted and to secure the control channel that is used for authentication and transmission of commands. This makes FTPS a more secure alternative to traditional FTP, as it protects sensitive information being transferred over the internet.

An organization may use FTPS to transfer data from its ERP system to the MDM tool, allowing the MDM system to store a consolidated and up-to-date view of the organization’s master data. FTPS can also be used to transfer data from the MDM system to other systems, such as data warehouses, for analysis and reporting, and financial information, over the internet in a secure manner. It is also used for secure file transfers in industries such as healthcare, where HIPAA regulations require a secure transfer of protected health information (PHI).

Using FTPS in an MDM tool provides a secure and efficient way to transfer data between different systems, helping organizations ensure the privacy and security of their master data.
